- When:
- March
- Course:
- Rolling · net downhill · point-to-point
- Best run as:
- Even pace
Course & elevation
LA’s point-to-point course has a net downhill toward the ocean but is genuinely rolling, with notable climbs in the first half through the hills around Silver Lake and Hollywood before trending down toward Santa Monica.
Key moments
- Mile 4–9Rolling climbs through Echo Park, Silver Lake, and Hollywood.
- Mile 14–18Rodeo Drive and the long descent toward the west side.
- Mile 23–26.2Toward the coast and the ocean-side finish.
Pacing strategy
Run the early hills by effort and don’t chase pace on the climbs. The net downhill back half rewards patience — but heat can flip this race, so watch conditions.

Fueling & hydration
Aid stations roughly every 1.5–2 miles with water and sports drink. Warm years sharply raise fluid needs — drink early and often, and don’t skip electrolytes.
Weather
Mid-March LA can be perfect or hot; a heat spike is the single biggest threat to your goal.
