Course & elevation

Richmond is gently rolling with strong crowd support, saving a welcome downhill for the final stretch to the finish near the James River. A bridge crossing around mile 16 and rolling neighborhoods define the middle miles.

Key moments

  • Mile 8–14Rolling neighborhood miles — run them by effort.
  • Mile 16Bridge crossing over the James River — exposed; mind the wind.
  • Mile 25–26.2A fast downhill finish to the river — bank energy for it.

Pacing strategy

Run the rollers evenly and keep something in reserve — the downhill final mile lets you finish fast if you haven’t overspent on the bridge and rollers.
