Course & elevation

The Disney course is flat aside from highway on-ramps connecting the parks, where short ramps provide the only grade. It winds through Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and Epcot, with character stops along the way.

Key moments

  • Mile 5–6Through Magic Kingdom and down Main Street, the signature stretch.
  • Mile 12–20Highway on-ramps between parks are the only real grade changes.
  • Mile 24–26.2Into Epcot for the finish.

Pacing strategy

A very early start and Florida humidity matter more than the flat profile. If you’re racing it, pace evenly; if you’re there for the experience, the character photo lines are part of the fun.

Pacing by goal time

Checkpoint splits for four common goals at Walt Disney World Marathon. These are effort-even rather than pace-even: the paces shift with the course profile, so climbs are slower and descents faster by the amount the grade actually costs. For any other goal time, use the planner below.

Grade adjustment is a model, not a promise. It assumes even effort and ignores wind, heat, and how well your legs handle sustained descent — which on a steep course is often the deciding factor.

Fueling & hydration

Frequent aid stations with water and sports drink. The pre-dawn start and humidity mean you’ll sweat early, so hydrate from the first station and fuel on schedule.

Weather

Early-January Orlando is mild but often humid, with the occasional cold snap or warm, muggy morning.

Is Walt Disney World Marathon a good Boston qualifier?

Yes. The course actually finishes 2 ft higher than it starts, so no downhill adjustment applies — and nobody can accuse the time of being gravity-assisted.

This drop is our estimate rather than a figure from the course's certificate. If it sits near a threshold, confirm with the organizer.
